RALEIGH, N.C. – Duke track & field wrapped up its second day of action at the Raleigh Relays on Friday at the Paul Derr Track Facility on the campus of NC State.
Much like the opening day, the Blue Devils jumped out to success in the first events of the day. Sophomore
Beau Allen made his outdoor debut in the high jump count, earning third place with a mark of 2.05m (6-8.75 feet). Allen records his second top-three performance in the high jump of the combined indoor and outdoor seasons, after placing second at the Orange & Purple Elite on January 9.
The 400m proved to be the deepest event of the day for the Blue Devils. After several top performances from new graduate student transfers on Thursday, graduate student
Iman Sule turned in one of her own. Sule joins the Blue Devils following a decorated tenure at Columbia University, in which she picked up an outdoor All-American distinction in 2018. Her Blue Devil debut came in the 400m, where she recorded a time of 54.15 seconds, to finish in third place. Sule's run came just .08 seconds shy of a top-five mark in program history.
Right behind Sule was sophomore
Jenna Crean, who turned in one of the most impressive personal bests of the day. The West Seneca, N.Y. native smashed her 400m personal best by over a full second and took home sixth place with a run of 55.28 seconds. Crean carried her positive momentum from the ACC Indoor Championships, in which she took home a bronze medal as part of the DMR team, into the outdoor season.
Action will conclude at the Raleigh Relays on Saturday with a packed slate of events. Redshirt senior
Ben Beatty will open the day in the men's hammer at 10 a.m., with the women's long jump and the men's and women's 4x100m relays to follow.
