Duke Set for Meet Against North Carolina

DURHAM, N.C. – After a historic performance at the 2021 ACC Fencing Championship two weeks ago, the Duke fencing team will travel down Tobacco Road to compete against North Carolina Sunday, March 14. Sunday marks Duke's final meet before the NCAA Fencing Championship in two weeks.

Duke will fence North Carolina Sunday beginning with the women at 9 a.m., followed by the men at 10 a.m. It will be a rematch of the ACC Team Championship where Duke claimed both team titles.

The Blue Devils are coming off a big weekend at the ACC Championship in Chapel Hill where they collected both the men's and women's team titles after 11 student-athletes received medals in the individual competition.

During the women's team event, Duke defeated Boston College (20-7) and North Carolina (18-9) before the men went 1-1 with a win over North Carolina (18-9). In the tiebreak, Duke defeated Boston College (2-1) and North Carolina (2-1) to take the crown.

In the individual championship, Duke collected a program-record 11 individual medals as the Blue Devils won five of the six individual crowns.

Duke posted a near perfect performance on the women's side, finishing with seven of the nine medalists, including each of the podium finishers in epee and foil. The Blue Devils also had the champions in all three weapons.

ACC Champions Huda Aldadah, Alex Gorman, Zoe Superville, Finn Hossfeld and Stephen Kim return to the strip this weekend as well as medalists Julia Gianneschi, Maria Papadopoulos, Chloe Beittel, Lulu Tang, Sam Guber and Danny Campbell III.
