DURHAM – Senior outfielder
RJ Schreck was tabbed to the 2022
Collegiate Baseball Pre-Season All-America Third Team, the publication announced on Tuesday.
Â
Schreck concluded the 2021 season slashing .337/.435/.635 and was named to the 2021 ABCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team. The Los Angeles, Calif., native hit a team-leading 18 home runs to place tied for fourth all-time in a single season in program history. He led the team in RBIs (52), slugging percentage (.635), multi-hit games (20) and multi-RBI games (14). A third team All-ACC selection, he also ranked in the top-10 in the conference in multiple categories – home runs, RBIs, hits (70) and runs scored (49).
Â
Schreck's best game of the season came in the Knoxville Regional against Wright State. Schreck put together a 4-for-6 day with a trio of home runs and a double to match his career high of five home runs. His three home runs in a single game were the most by a Blue Devil since 2016. Schreck's performance at the Knoxville Regional placed him on the All-Region team.
Â
The Blue Devils were tabbed No. 28 in the Collegiate Baseball Pre-Season NCAA Division I Baseball Poll. Duke was one of nine ACC teams ranked among the top-30 teams.
Â
Duke opens the season Feb. 18-20 as it hosts Virginia Military Institute for a three-game series at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
