DURHAM – As the Blue Devils wrap up their fall slate, the Duke women's lacrosse program shines its spotlight on the freshman class, this week featuring
Tess Gagliano.
Gagliano comes to Durham from Barrington, R.I., as a midfielder from Barrington High School.
Throughout her high school career, she has accumulated 217 goals and 75 assists for 292 points. During her senior year, Gagliano was named a US Lacrosse All-American, first team All-State, US Lacrosse All-Academic and earned the US Lacrosse Jackie Pitts Award. She has also grabbed numerous additional first team All-Division honors and was even the top freshman goal scorer in the state of Rhode Island.
On the club scene, she won the 2019 National Tournament with Massachusetts and Rhode Island and was a member of the 2018 Under Armour Command Team. In addition to lacrosse, Gagliano has also lettered in track and field, cross country and soccer.
Gagliano comes from an athletic family as he dad, Chris, was the Marist College lacrosse goalie.
Traynor joins seven other Blue Devils in the
freshman class.

TG: Duke is my day-one dream school. The moment I stepped on campus, I felt an instant connection to the incredible team dynamic and coaching staff. It is also the perfect balance of academics and athletic excellence.

Who has made the biggest impact on your life and why?
TG: My sisters have always influenced me and pushed me to be my best self.
If you were to play another sport, what would it be?
TG: If I could choose any other sport, I would pick surfing. I love to be in the ocean!
