Tyler Christmas is the sixth member of Duke's class to be introduced this fall.

"Tyler Christmas possesses game changing speed and really good bat to ball skills," head coach
Chris Pollard said. "I have been really impressed with his barrel awareness so far this fall. The speed he possesses makes him a threat to steal and score from first anytime he is on the bases."

Christmas lettered four seasons at Fort Dorchester High School under Ronnie Sayer. He concluded his career at Fort Dorchester hitting .391 with a 1.20 OPS, seven home runs, 52 RBIS, 69 runs and a .960 fielding percentage. He was named a team captain and team MVP as a senior at Fort Dorchester.

He accumulated many accolades during his prep career, including National High School Baseball Coaches Association All-American, South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association All-State, SC Select North/South All-Star, 5A Region 8 All-Region Player and Perfet Game All-American Atlantic First Team.

Christmas was tabbed the top shortstop and the 11th overall player out of South Carolina in 2021 by Perfect Game. He was recently rated the 363rd overall freshman entering the 2022 season.

Off the field, Christmas was a member of the National Honor Society and the Fort Dorchester's President Leadership team. He also was awarded the Palmetto Scholars scholarship.

Born Tyler Ethan Christmas on Aug. 2, 2002, he is the son of Jay and Jennifer Christmas. He has two sisters, Parker and Marlee. Tyler's dad, Jay, played collegiate baseball at Coker College.

Why Duke? It's the best place to be as a student athlete. It is one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the country, baseball is top notch, and the support staff is phenomenal.
What is your biggest fear? Spiders
Who is your biggest role model? My mom. What she does for the family day in and day out could never be repaid. I owe her a huge thanks for shaping me into the person I am today.
