DURHAM – Team Hoyle tied the series at one game each with a 10-7 win over Team Crabtree on Saturday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Team Hoyle flexed its resiliency after Team Crabtree scored seven runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 7-6 lead. Team Hoyle responded, scoring four in the bottom frame to take the final lead, 10-7.

Damon Lux led Team Hoyle, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Freshman
Alex Mooney led Team Crabtree with a 2-for-3 performance with a walk and an RBI.

Chad Knight hit a two-out double to start a rally for Team Hoyle in the bottom of the first. Sophomore
Luke Storm scored Knight with a single before scoring from first on a double off the wall by sophomore
Alex Stone, giving Team Hoyle a 2-0 lead.

Team Hoyle added to its lead in the bottom of the third inning, scoring four runs on four hits. Lux recorded an RBI double to score freshman
Oren Abbott, who reached on a walk. Junior
Graham Pauley blasted a two-run home run to plate the final two runs of the inning.

The visitors were not to be counted out, putting up seven in the top of the fourth to give Team Crabtree a 7-6 lead. Team captain graduate student

Tyler Christmas rattled off a pinch hit double to clear the bases before Lux hit a two-run home run to give Team Hoyle a 10-7 lead.

Team Hoyle saw strong pitching performances by senior
Cooper Stinson, sophomore
Nick Conte and freshman
Jonathan Santucci. Stinson started for the side, allowing two runs, one earned, while striking out eight in 3.1 innings of work. Conte came in relief, fanning five in 2.2 hitless innings pitched. Santucci earned the save for Team Hoyle, pitching a clean seventh inning with a strikeout.

The Fall World Series Champion will be crowned Tuesday afternoon, as the final game of the three-game series is set for 4:30 p.m. at Jack Coombs Field on Duke's campus.
