DURHAM, N.C.—Former Blue Devil forward Jeremy Ebobisse has been called in by the U-23 U.S. Men's National Team in a combined preparation camp with the U.S. Men's National Team senior group starting Jan. 9 in Bradenton, Fla.
Ebobisse is one of 26 players invited to train with the U-23 squad, while U.S. senior coach Gregg Berhalter brought in 12 players for the senior group and will elevate several U-23 players to the full USMNT roster in advance of a planned match at the end of January.
The combined preparation camp also will give the U-23 team an opportunity to prepare for Olympic qualifying. Former Duke star Jason Kreis is the head coach of the U-23s and will bring this group together for the first time in 10 months. It will be the final chance for Kreis to build and evaluate the roster ahead of the resumption of the qualifying tournament in March.
Ebobisse is coming off an excellent season with the Portland Timbers. He was tied for the team lead in goals (8) and tallied two assists for the Timbers after appearing in 18 regular-season matches (11 starts) during the 2020 campaign. Across all competitions for Portland in 2020, the Bethesda, Md., native tallied nine goals and three assists in 23 appearances (15 starts).
In the MLS is Back tournament, Ebobisse was voted to the Best XI team after ranking tied for third in goals (4) among all players in the tournament. He tallied a goal and an assist in the title win over Orlando City.
At the international level, Ebobisse has earned one cap with the USMNT, starting and playing 66 minutes in a 3-0 win against Panama at University of Phoenix Stadium on Jan. 28, 2019.
