DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke baseball program hosted its ninth annual First Pitch Banquet virtually Saturday night.
Signifying the start of the Duke baseball season, the First Pitch Banquet is hosted by the voice of Duke baseball,
Chris Edwards. This year's banquet served as an introduction to the 2021 team, introducing each class throughout the evening.
Edwards kicked off the night with a preseason question and answer with head coach
Chris Pollard. Pollard and Edwards reflected on the shortened 2020 season before discussing expectations and the team in 2021.
Later in the evening, keynote speaker and former Duke baseball and football student-athlete Nathan Whitaker shared an encouraging message to the 500+ members of the Duke baseball family attending the virtual event.
The event also kicked off the annual First Pitch Banquet auction, which can be found at GoDuke.com/auctions. This year's field of items include personalized jerseys, team gear, team and alumni autographed memorabilia, a Duke golf bag and more. The auction will be live until the Blue Devils' opening game against Coastal Carolina on Feb. 19.
