DURHAM, N.C. – Duke baseball head coach Chris Pollard announced his team's out-of-conference schedule for the upcoming 2021 season.
In addition to Duke's 36 ACC games, the Blue Devils will play 14 non-league contests.
Pollard, who enters his ninth season at the helm of the program, returns 32 letterwinners from a season ago and 13 newcomers to the squad. The Blue Devils were tabbed No. 16 in the recent Baseball America Preseason Top 25 poll and are scheduled to face five ranked opponents for a three-game series this year – No. 5 Virginia, No. 7 Louisville, No. 11 Miami, No. 17 NC State and No. 22 Georgia Tech.
Duke opens the season on the road, traveling to Conway, S.C., to take on Coastal Carolina in a three-game set on Feb. 19-21. This weekend matchup will be the Blue Devils' lone non-conference series of the regular season.
In addition to the series with Coastal Carolina, the Blue Devils will play 11 non-conference Tuesday midweek games throughout the season. Duke will play four midweek opponents twice throughout the season in East Carolina, NC Central, Liberty and Davidson.
Duke travels to East Carolina on Feb. 23, Liberty on April 20 and Davidson on May 18. The Blue Devils will then host the Pirates on March 9, the Flames on March 30, the Wildcats on March 2 and the Eagles on March 16 and April 6.
Pollard's squad will also play single games against Campbell (April 13), William & Mary (May 4) and Wofford (May 11), all at home.
As previously announced, Duke's ACC slate features three-game weekend series against 12 league opponents.
The Blue Devils host Boston College (Feb. 26-28), Pittsburgh (March 5-7), No. 17 NC State (March 12-14), No. 22 Georgia Tech (March 26-28), Wake Forest (April 16-18) and Virginia Tech (May 14-16).
Duke travels to Notre Dame (March 19-21), No. 11 Miami (April 2-4), North Carolina (April 9-11), No. 5 Virginia (April 23-25), No. 7 Louisville (May 7-9) and Clemson (May 20-22).
The 2021 ACC Baseball Championship will take place May 25-30. The ACC office will announce the location once it is determined.
All of Duke's home games will be played at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in downtown Durham. The television designations and times for each game will be announced at a later date.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, Duke University will begin its spring sport program seasons without spectators at home events. Duke athletics home contests will include essential game management personnel and broadcast media. Traditional parking lots used by fans on game day will be closed.
Blue Devil fans can support Duke baseball with cutouts of themselves, family members or their favorite pets. Cutouts will be displayed for the entirety of the season regardless of the future determination for allowing spectators into the venue.
All cutouts are $75 each and fans will receive an individual photo of their cutout in the stadium. For an additional $25, Coach Pollard will sign the cutout.
Proceeds from sales will go directly to Duke Athletics to support our student-athletes during these unprecedented times. Visit here to purchase your cutout.
As always schedules are subject to change, but changes will always be published on social media and GoDuke.com if/when they occur.
