DURHAM, N.C. – After posting a standout summer in his summer league, Duke junior catcher and outfielder
Rudy Maxwell capped the summer campaign by being named to the 2020 Coastal Plain League, announced by the league recently.
Maxwell, a member of the High Point-Thomasville HiToms, was selected to the All-CPL First Team as a catcher, marking one of seven first-team distinctions by the HiToms, which were selected with input all seven head coaches.
The Brentwood, Tenn., native closed out his summer batting .400, with four doubles, four home runs, 17 RBI, four walks and nine runs across 15 games of action. Maxwell also posted a .472 on-base percentage, while slugging .756—all totals which ranked second on the team.
The Coastal Plain League celebrated its 24
th season in 2020, and has had over 1,600 alumni drafted and 136 alums make their Major League debut.
