DURHAM, N.C. – Several members of the 2019-20 Duke baseball roster are taking part in collegiate summer leagues spread across the United States. Below is an update on some of the Blue Devil standouts so far:
High Point-Thomasville HiToms (Coastal Plain League)
Five Blue Devils are spending their summer in Thomasville playing for the HiToms in the Coastal Plain League—
Michael Foltz,
Britt Fuller,
Rudy Maxwell,
Ethan Murray and
Josh Nifong. The HiToms have posted an 8-1 record across their first nine games, including a 5-0 mark at home.
Murray currently ranks second on the squad in batting average, hitting at a .474 clip through six games of action. The Crozet, Va., native has added one double and one home run, while registering six RBI and five walks to lead the team in on-base percentage.
Fuller has posted an impressive showing so far, as the left-handed slugger leads the team in home runs with three on the campaign. The Charlotte, N.C., native has batted at a .333 mark, while adding eight RBI and six walks to his totals.
Maxwell has seen action in eight contests, including seven starts. The Brentwood, Tenn., native is hitting at a .273 clip, and has recorded two doubles and one home run thus far.
The duo of Nifong and Foltz have combined for five appearances on the mound, as Nifong has recorded three outings and Foltz has recorded two. Nifong currently owns a 9.00 ERA (3 ER/3.0 IP), and has registered one save and three strikeouts.
La Crosse Loggers (Northwoods League)
The duo of
Matt Stinebiser and
Graham Pauley are spending their summer in the Northwoods League competing for the La Crosse Loggers. Stinebiser currently ranks second on the squad in batting, hitting t a .333 clip. The Blue Devil catcher has recorded three doubles and six RBI, while adding four walks to his totals.
Pauley has appeared in nine games so far, registering five hits and seven walks. He has added a pair of RBI and three runs scored to his totals.
