Daniele Proch Writes a Blog and Joins a Podcast
While sports on hold for the foreseeable future, former Blue Devil and current North Carolina FC player
Daniele Proch is taking his talents to the media landscape in authoring a blog and co-hosting a podcast.
Upon his arrival at Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C., Proch began taking journalism classes that ignited his interest in writing and reporting. When he transferred to Duke, he enrolled in the school's Policy Journalism and Media Studies Program, where his writing and fluency in the English language flourished.
After graduating in December of 2019, Proch eventually signed on with NCFC and recently started NCFC Insider, a blog about players on the team and giving an inside look at the club for fans. His latest is a story on Hadji Barry's American Dream. To read his blog posts, simply visit

Mike Grella Signs On With FC Cincinnati
Just over a year after announcing his retirement on social media, former Duke star
Mike Grella has signed on to be a part of MLS's FC Cincinnati Scouting and Player Recruitment. Grella spent four seasons in MLS after playing overseas for nearly five years.
"One of the most daring and creative American wingers in MLS. Grella has both wowed fans with his dribbling ability and goal scoring production."
He played in 85 games with 66 starts. He scored 17 goals, had 14 assists, and still holds the record for MLS's fastest goal in league history. He was a crucial part of the New York Red Bulls winning
the Supporters' Shield in 2015.
MLS and USL Resume Training
Major League Soccer announced Thursday that clubs may begin to use outdoor team training fields for voluntary small group training sessions in compliance with detailed health and safety protocols. Various USL clubs also have begun small group training at their facilities as well.

Wenger Scores Another Degree
Less than two years after announcing his retirement from professional soccer, the 2011 Hermann Award winner graduated with a master's degree from Columbia Business School via a Virtual Send-Off May 17, 2020. Wenger was an outstanding student at Duke and graduated in 2012. The 2011 Hermann Award winner as the best collegiate soccer player, Wenger decided to forego his senior year and was the No. 1 pick in the MLS SuperDraft by Montréal. He played for three clubs in MLS, playing 181 games and starting 115 of those. He scored 23 goals and had 15 assists.

May Recruiting Rankings Update
Top Drawer Soccer updated its 2020 recruiting rankings in May, tabbing the Blue Devils' class No. 2 behind Indiana. Head coach
John Kerr and staff will welcome 10 newcomers to the program, with four of them ranking in the top 50 of the TDS rankings. Adam Armour is atop the list at No. 11 and Peter Stroud comes in at No. 15. JT Harms is one of top the goalkeepers in the collection of soon to be college freshmen.
