DURHAM, N.C. – After posting a 12-4 overall record in the shortened season, the Duke baseball program concluded the 2020 campaign as a consensus top-15 team. The Blue Devils received rankings as a high as eighth in the national polls, while being recognized as a top-10 team amongst three different publications.
Duke came into the season ranked within the top 20 in five of the six national collegiate baseball polls. The Blue Devils landed at No. 11 in 
Perfect Game's Preseason Top 25, marking the highest-ever preseason ranking in program history. Additionally Duke was ranked No. 15 by 
Baseball America,
 D1Baseball and the 
National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), while checking in at No. 20 in the 
USA Today Baseball Coaches Poll. 
After notching a ranked series win over then-No. 11 Florida State in the first weekend of ACC play, the Blue Devils rose in five of the six national polls, while moving into the top 10 in both the 
Baseball America and 
D1Baseball polls. Duke wrapped up the season as a consensus top-15 team: 
Baseball America (No. 10), 
Collegiate Baseball (No. 22), 
D1Baseball (No. 10), 
NCBWA (No. 11), 
Perfect Game (No. 8) and 
USA Today (No. 11).
The 2020 season marks the third consecutive year that Duke has concluded the campaign as a top-20 team after entering the season ranked. The Blue Devils are one of 11 teams nationally to be ranked in both the preseason and final rankings across the last three years, including: Arkansas, Florida State, Louisville, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, NC State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UCLA and Vanderbilt.
