Duke Sweeps 5000m at Camel City Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Duke track & field team opened the Camel City Invitational on Friday night with first place finishes in the men's and women's 5000m.

Junior Paul Dellinger clocked a time of 14:28.72 on the men's side while senior Lindsay Billings took the women's race with a personal-best time of 16:49.22. Both marks, when converted for a flat floor track by roughly nine seconds, will qualify Dellinger and Billings for the ACC Indoor Championships.

Senior Cassie Martin had a record performance in the women's high jump, clearing a lifetime-best 1.75m (5-8.75). The mark qualifies her for ACC's and is tied for the third-best in program history indoors.

In the men's high jump, Beau Allen continued his strong freshman campaign start to the indoor season with a clearance of 2.05 (6-8.75), placing him third in the event.

In the men's mile, freshman Rory Cavan ran a personal-best 4:15.63 – which will be converted roughly three seconds. Sophomore Joe Cullen clocked a 4:17.79, good enough for an indoor personal record. Junior Leigha Torino placed fourth in the women's mile with a time of 4:51.50.

Freshman Davis Howell set a seasonal best in the men's unseeded high jump, placing second with a 1.95 (6-4.75) mark.

Another top-five finish for the Blue Devils came in the men's 600m, where senior Nick Cox clocked a time of 1:24.80 to place fourth.

Competition will resume with the men's and women's shot put at 9:30 a.m. ET Saturday.
