DURHAM, N.C. – After a 3-1 weekend at the Texas Invitational, Duke softball is set two play two midweek contests before its first ACC series of the 2020 season. The Blue Devils will host NC Central on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. and travel to Raleigh to play at NC State on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m.
The Blue Devils (12-2) are coming off two shutouts on Saturday, including a 1-0 victory over No. 4 Texas for the program's first win over a ranked opponent.

LAST TIME OUT vs. NC CENTRAL
Duke and NC Central last met on Feb. 19, 2019 at the Duke Softball Stadium. The Blue Devils scored five runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Eagles in run-rule fashion, 8-0.
Deja Davis posted a career-best 4-for-4 performance with a double and one RBI.
Caroline Jacobsen added two hits,
Rachel Crabtree and
Kyla Morris doubled while
Jazmine Moreno had a triple.
Peyton St. George notched her first victory of the season, throwing six complete innings in which she only let up two hits while recording seven strikeouts.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
The Eagles are still seeking their first win of the season, having started the year with a 0-8 mark. NC Central has played two ranked opponents this season in North Carolina (22) and South Carolina (17). Out of the Eagles' starters, Nadia Blevins holds the highest batting average (.357) while Tamiera Sanchez and Joirea Dumas have each garnered a team-high six hits. Dumas has two of the team's three home runs and leads the team with six RBI.
LAST TIME OUT vs. NC STATE
The two teams last met during their ACC series last season, April 20-21, where NC State won the series, 2-1. The Wolfpack edged the Blue Devils in the nine-inning first game, 2-1, but Duke bounced back for an 8-1 victory in game two. With the series even heading into Sunday, NC State won the series with a close 5-4 win.
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
The Wolfpack have opened the 2020 campaign with an 11-4 record and head into Wednesday's contest on a six-game win streak. NC State was tested in its opening weekend at the NFCA Leadoff Classic where they took down No. 21 Ole Miss (3-2) in the season opener but finished with a 2-3 mark. NC State went 3-1 while hosting the Big 10/ACC Challenge and went unbeaten (5-0) during its Fairfield Crabtree Invitational last weekend. Tatyana Forbes leads the team offensively, batting .569 with 29 hits and 12 RBI. Sydney Nester has been the go-to in the circle and holds a 6-1 record with a 3.50 ERA and 57 strikeouts through 56 innings.
TAKING DOWN NO. 4 TEXAS
The Blue Devils handed fourth-ranked Texas its first loss of 2020 on the road, defeating the Longhorns in shut out fashion (1-0) on Saturday night in Austin. The one run came in the fourth inning, propelled by a hard-hit double against the wall in right center from senior
Raine Wilson. Following a dropped strike three in the next at-bat, Wilson was able to advance to third before scoring the winning run on a single from Jacobsen. Duke's battery was dominant as St. George hurled seven complete innings while Moreno gunned out a runner stealing second for the final out of the game.
ON DECK
Duke will have a quick turnaround before welcoming Notre Dame for its first ACC series of the season. The Fighting Irish received votes in the major polls last week and enter the weekend series with a 10-5 record.
