GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Duke women's swimming and diving program and men's diving team continued their time at the 2020 Women's ACC Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday at the Greensboro Aquatics Center (GAC).
After the third day of competition, the women are in sixth place with 462.50 points.
In the morning, freshman
Kayle Park moved up to second in the Duke books for her 1:01.15 time in the 100 breaststroke.
Emma Shuppert reached the A final of the 100 backstroke in the evening with a career-best time of 52.56 in the preliminaries. Shuppert continued her strong Friday performance with a fourth-place finish in 52.34, good for the third-fastest time in Duke history. That time is also an NCAA 'B' cut time.
Alyssa Marsh also swam to a fourth-place finish with her time of 51.82 in the A finals of the 100-yard butterfly while
Connie Dean and
Melissa Pish placed eighth in their respective A final events. In the 400 IM, Dean clocked in at 4:12.22 with Pish's 1:46.87 in the 200 free.
In men's platform diving,
Nathaniel Hernandez finished in seventh with a score of 302.90.
Competing alongside Shuppert in the 100 back was
Shayna Hollander in the C final where she finished in 17th with a time of 53.06, good for fifth in the Duke record books.
The Blue Devils will close out competition at the ACC Championships with the women's 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 1650 freestyle and platform diving. Preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m., with the evening action will begin at 6 p.m., at the GAC in Greensboro, N.C.
