DURHAM, N.C. – Following several changes to the 2020 fall schedule, the 14th-ranked Duke volleyball team will make the short trip down Tobacco Road to take on North Carolina Friday, Oct. 9 and Sunday, Oct. 11. Friday's match will start at 6:30 p.m. on ACC Network Extra before Sunday's 5:30 p.m. ACC Network matchup.

LAST TIME OUT
The 14th-ranked Duke volleyball team continued its powerful start to the 2020 season with a 3-0 sweep on the road against Virginia (25-23, 25-17, 25-18) Friday evening in Charlottesville, Va.
Boasted by a season-high .319 team hitting percentage, senior
Payton Schwantz and sophomore
Gracie Johnson combined for 25 kills on just four total errors as Schwantz hit a whopping .440 percent to Johnson's .417 for the match. Junior
Lily Cooper also had a solid showing with six kills and no errors to hit .462 percent. Schwantz recorded her first double-double of the season with 13 kills and 11 digs to go along with three aces and three blocks.
BLUE BLOOD RIVALRY
The Tar Heels lead the all-time series (62-56) against the Blue Devils and are riding a three-match win streak over Duke. Duke dropped both matches against North Carolina in 2019 as the Tar Heels prevailed 3-1 (22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-20) in Cameron Indoor Stadium on November 7 before a 3-0 sweep (26-24, 25-20, 25-20) in Carmichael Arena on November 21. Duke's last victory in Carmichael Arena was November 2, 2018 when the Blue Devils dominated in 3-0 fashion.
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
The Tar Heels enter the weekend 1-1 overall and in conference play and haven't played a match since
September 25. North Carolina took down Virginia Tech (3-1) before dropping a five setter (3-2) in Blacksburg.
North Carolina boasts three with 20+ kills in its first two matches led by Aziah Buckner (29), Parker Austin (23) and Destiny Cox (20).
LEADING THE NATION
Duke enters the weekend leading the nation in opponent hitting percentage (.105) and is third in blocks per set (2.92).
In their season opener versus NC State on Sept. 23, the Blue Devils limited the Wolfpack to a .078 and .099 hitting percentage for the weekend. Duke's block was stellar at the net against NC State, recording 16.0 total team blocks on Wednesday before 11.0 on Saturday. In Charlottesville, Duke limited Virginia to a .155 clip and registered 8.0 total team blocks.
WELCOME TO BLOCKTOBER
Duke's block was outstanding through its first three matches of the season with 35.0 total team blocks (2.92 blocks/set). The Blue Devils' best middle blockers from the 2019 season have already made an impact as
Lily Cooper and
Lizzie Fleming combine for 30 blocks and four solo.
Fleming is third in the conference with 16, (1.33 blocks/set) followed by Cooper in seventh with 14 (1.17).
Gracie Johnson (9, 0.75),
Payton Schwantz (9, 0.75) and
Ade Owokoniran (8, 0.67) round out Duke's ACC blocking presence.
