DURHAM, N.C. – Duke volleyball extended its winning streak to five matches on Saturday night, recording a 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-22) win over Belmont inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Duke (7-1) is off to its best start through eight matches since 2012, when the Blue Devils also opened the season 7-1.

Mailinh Godschall reached a major milestone on Saturday, recording her 1,000^th career dig early in the second set. Her 14 digs on the night were a match high, while she led all players with three aces.

The Blue Devils – in large part due to Godschall – held Belmont to .154 hitting on the night. Setter Nikki Quinn set a new career high in blocks with four. Zoe Gillen-Malveaux also added four blocks at the net.

Gillen-Malveaux was incredibly efficient on the offensive side of the net, recording 10 kills and no errors with a .588 hitting percentage. Avery Hamlin (8) and Breonna Goss (6) also had six-plus kills and no errors. Quinn finished with 41 assists.

On the outside, Nataly Moravec led all players with 13 kills on a .250 clip, while Ashby Zubchevich hit .208 en route to 10 kills.

How it Happened
Set 1 – Duke 25, Belmont 21
• The two teams went back and forth, playing the maximum number of points going into the media timeout, with Duke leading 15-14.
• The two sides continued trading points before Duke pushed its lead to 23-20.
• Duke closed out the set on a kill by Moravec and a block from Quinn and Gillen-Malveaux.
• Moravec had seven of her kills in the opening frame, while Zubchevich had five on eight attempts. Duke hit .333 in the frame.

Set 2 – Duke 25, Belmont 18
• The beginning of the second set was the only time Duke trailed on Saturday, but it was still in control going into the media timeout leading, 15-7.
• Duke pushed its lead to 21-9, and Belmont tried to fight back, but the lead never dropped below six points.
• Duke hit .400 in the frame, as Gillen-Malveaux (4), Hamlin, Zubchevich (4) and Goss (3) all contributed multiple kills.
• The Blue Devil defense held the Bruins to .083 hitting.

Set 3 – Duke 25, Belmont 22
• The final set of Saturday was the closest, but Duke never trailed.
• The Blue Devils opened the set with a kill from Goss and took a 15-12 lead into the media timeout.
• Leading 16-15, Duke won five of the next six points to take a 21-16 lead.
• Belmont got it within two late, but a kill from Zubchevich sealed the deal.

By the Numbers
• Duke won the kill battle 48-33. The Blue Devils hit .336 compared to .154 for the Bruins.
• Duke had 45 assists, led by Quinn's 41. The redshirt junior did not record an error.
• The Blue Devils won the blocking battle 7-6.
• Duke had five aces compared to Belmont's two.
• Attendance on Saturday was 814, a season high for Duke.
