2001 – Men's Basketball – Coach K joined Moses Malone and John Chaney as inductees of the 2001 class to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. Krzyzewski was introduced by Bob Knight, his coach at Army. The two coaches shared a tear-filled reunion on the Springfield Civic Center stage after Knight's introduction. Knight called Krzyzewski "the best coach in the game," adding his Duke teams have proved that "good students can win. His teams are models for any team that plays basketball."
2019 – Cross Country – The Duke men's cross country team placed first out of five schools at the Great American XC Festival in Cary, N.C., with three Blue Devils earning top five finishes. Leading the way for Duke was freshman
Rory Cavan, who came in second place overall with an 8K time of 24:38.5. In the women's 5K, which was not to score, senior
Sarah Armstrong and junior
Helen Williams finished third and fourth in the field, respectively.
October 7
2016 – Women's Golf – Erica Shepherd won her first AJGA Tournament title at the Junior All-Star Invitational with rounds of 73, 69 and 72 for a 54-hole ledger of 214.
October 8
2013 – Women's Cross Country – Following a first-place finish at the Notre Dame Invitational four days earlier, Duke graduate student Juliett Bottorff was named ACC Performer of the Week. Bottorff, who earned the honor for the third time in her decorated career with the Blue Devils, finished with a 5K time of 16:43.8 – nine seconds ahead of the second-place runner in a field that included a number of nationally ranked opponents.
October 9
2005 – Women's Soccer – For only the second time in school history, the 11th-ranked Duke women's soccer team knocked off top-ranked North Carolina, 2-1, at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill, N.C., as junior Rebecca Moros tallied two goals, including one with three minutes remaining in the match.
October 10
2005 – Men's Golf – Duke fought off Northwestern and a Dustin Johnson-led Coastal Carolina squad to win the 2005 Coca-Cola Classic at the Duke University Golf Club. Junior Jake Grodzinsky was clutch with birdies on No. 17 and No. 18 to give the Blue Devils a one-stroke victory over the Wildcats and Chanticleers. Johnson won the event (-15) with Grodzinsky finishing tied for fifth (-7).
2018 – Men's Cross Country – Duke's
Carter Dillon was tabbed ACC Freshman of the Week for his performance at the Great American XC Festival in Cary, N.C., where he placed 10th overall in his first collegiate 8K. Dillon finished with a time of 25:45.9, helping the Blue Devils earn a first-place team victory at WakeMed Soccer Park.
October 11
2013 – Men's Cross Country – The Duke men's cross country team won convincingly at the Royal XC Challenge in Charlotte, N.C., taking the first three overall places and seven of the top 10 positions. Junior Brian Schoepfer led the field with a finishing time of 25:09.2 on the 8K course. Sophomore Blake Udland and freshman Stephen Shine crossed the line shortly after, placing second and third with times of 25:10.3 and 25:10.5, respectively.
