DURHAM, N.C. – Following another impressive season, head coach
Chris Pollard and the Duke baseball program are excited to now welcome the 2020 recruiting class. Infielder
Luke Storm is a part of the talented group set to arrive in Durham next fall.
"Luke Storm is a switch-hitting infielder out of Easton, Pennsylvania," said Pollard. "He's another big guy; this is a really big class in terms of their physicality. He's 6'5, 225 pounds, but he's athletic enough to actually play the middle infield. He has played a lot of corner infield, but he's also played a lot of shortstop in his career, and he's athletic and mobile at the position. He really projects as a switch-hitting, middle of the lineup bat, has a ton of power, especially from the left side."
A four-year letterwinner at Easton Area High School, Storm comes to Durham as a native of Easton, Pa. Storm has enjoyed a decorated high school career thus far, receiving numerous accolades throughout his three seasons at EAHS. He closed out his junior campaign batting .448, while slugging .866 with an on-base percentage of .589. Storm was named to the East Penn Conference Coaches Selection First Team at shortstop in 2019, while also being named the East Penn Conference Coaches Selection Most Valuable Player.
A well-rounded student-athlete, Storm has received High Honors in the classroom each of his four years at Easton Area. He is a member of the National Honor Society, while ranking in the top 10 percent of his class. Storm serves as a member of the East Penn Conference Student-Athlete Character Council, and was also named Homecoming King this past fall.
Storm is regarded as a top-500 national prospect according to Perfect Game, being listed as the No. 88 shortstop in the country. Additionally, the organization lists Storm as the ninth-best prospect and the second-ranked shortstop in the state of Pennsylvania.
Storm is a part of Duke's 12-member 2020 recruiting class. GoDuke.com is set to release details on all 12 of the newest Blue Devils in the coming weeks.
