The 2020 best college rankings by Niche placed Duke as the No. 1 school in America for student-athletes. Duke made history last year, setting an ACC record with 519 ACC Academic Honor Roll selections.Â

The Blue Devils snapped a five-game losing streak beating Virginia Tech at home, 72-67. The victory was propelled by redshirt freshman Mikayla Boykin, who came off the bench to score a career-high 14 points, while adding three assists and one steal in 22 minutes. The Blue Devils' defense held the Hokies to seven points over the last 12 minutes of the game.Â

A late 12-0 run propelled Virginia to a comeback victory against the Blue Devils, 66-63. Graduate Haley Gorecki posted her second game with 20 or more points, putting up 27 points, six steals, five assists, and four rebounds. Senior Leaonna Odom and redshirt freshman Mikayla Boykin also led the Blue Devils with 12 and 11 points, respectively.Â
Sophomore Miela Goodchild recorded her 100th career three-pointer, making her the quickest Duke athlete to hit 100 in only 45 games.Â

Mikayla Boykin Named N.C. High School All-Decade Team
Redshirt freshman Mikayla Boykin was recently named N.C. All-Decade for girls basketball by High School OT. Boykin, Class of 2017, averaged 37.4 points, 13.7 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 5.6 steals her senior season. She also earned the N.C. Basketball Coaches state player of the year and the state Gatorade Player of the Year honors during that season. Boykin had a total of 1,159 points in her high school career. A full article can be found here.
North Carolina ACC Women's Basketball Coaches to Speak at Greensboro Sports Council
The four Atlantic Coast Conference women's basketball head coaches from North Carolina, including Duke's Joanne P. McCallie, will speak at the Greensboro Sports Council on Tuesday, January 14. The event will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum. Tickets are $15 and will be sold at the door.Â
Duke Recruit Leads Squad to No. 5 Ranking
Duke incoming freshman Vanessa DeJesus has led Sierra Canyon to a 14-3 record and is currently ranked No. 5 nationally in the espnW top 25 Power Rankings for week five. Sierra Canyon beat Westchester (CA) 59-37 as DeJesus scored 22 points. DeJesus then scored 21 points in a 55-46 win over Cathedral Catholic (CA). A full set of rankings is here.

Chelsea Gray to Represent USA BasketballÂ
Former Duke standout and current Los Angeles Sparks player Chelsea Gray is set to represent USA Basketball Women's National Team for contests in January and February. The team will compete against top-ranked University of Connecticut Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2, and against University of Louisville Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. on ESPN.Â
