SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Duke sophomore
Toby Fournier has been named one of five finalists for the 2026 Katrina McClain Award as announced by The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The award recognizes the best power forward in Division I women's basketball.
In addition to being named a finalist for the forward of the year honor, Fournier also garnered an honorable mention All-America nod by
USA Today.
Joining Fournier as finalists are Khamil Pierre (NC State), Maggie Doogan (Richmond), Joyce Edwards (South Carolina) and Sarah Strong (UConn).
Fans are encouraged to participate in fan voting starting on Friday, March 13, at 1 p.m. on
hoophallawards.com. The fan vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
An All-ACC First Team selection, Fournier leads the Blue Devils on both ends of the court, averaging 17.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. She has scored in double figures in 29 of her 32 games this season and owns nine double-doubles. In conference play, Fournier averaged 18.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. A force inside the paint, Fournier increased her blocks total this season by 69 percent with 74 denials in her 32 outings. She ranks second in the ACC and 10th nationally in blocks per game, while her 74 blocks rank ninth in Duke single-season history.
Later this month, the finalists will be presented to Malone and McClain and the Hall of Fame's selection committees. The selection committees for the Karl Malone and Katrina McClain Awards are composed of top men's and women's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers.
The Blue Devils enter NCAA postseason play after securing the automatic bid by winning their 10th ACC Tournament title with an overtime victory over No. 12 Louisville last weekend. Duke also won the ACC regular season crown, finishing the year 16-2 overall. Led by ACC Coach of the Year
