The Blue Devil men’s cross country team repeated as champions at the 8k Roy Griak Invitational Saturday morning.
ST. PAUL, Minn. – For the second consecutive season, the Duke men's cross country team took first place at the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday morning on the Les Bosltad Golf Course at the University of Minnesota.
"Our goal going into it was to win it," said head coach Norm Ogilvie. We were capable of winning this one and we executed. Southern Utah finished second, fifth and seventh and we were third and fourth, but we got four in before their fourth and our depth was the difference. I am very proud of them and it was a very good win for us."
Duke placed two in the top-five and five in the top-10, totaling 34 points. Nationally ranked Southern Utah (No. 30 USTFCCCA/No. 24 Stride Report) placed second with 54 points, with South Dakota St. third (128), Cal State Bakersfield fourth (139) and UC Santa Barbara fifth (149).
For the second straight meet, junior CJ Ambrosio led the Blue Devils with an overall third place finish, clocking a time of 24:48.1.
