GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Duke men's cross country team won its fourth meet of the season at the Pirate Invite at Lake Kristi Friday afternoon.
Duke took first with 42 total points, with Richmond placing second (87) and East Carolina earning third (92).
Junior Josh Romine led the way for Duke, running an 8k time of 24:24.87, good for fourth place. Freshman Rory Cavan placed sixth with a time of 24:29.82, while junior Cole Hoff finished right behind him with a seventh place time of 24:30.98. Rounding out the top-five for the Blue Devils was freshman Matt Politis, who placed 12th (24:49.64), and sophomore Chris Theodore earned 18th (25:06.30).
The win improved Duke's overall record to 43-1 on the year and is the third straight first place showing for the Duke men.
The Blue Devils are back in action Saturday, October 19 as both the men and women compete at Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. Start time is set for 11 a.m.
