DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke University Athletic Department named senior swimmer
Alyssa Marsh the Duke University Student-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday following her performances at the 2019 NC State/GAC Invitational this past weekend in Greensboro, N.C.

The Davidson, N.C., native was the top overall performer and broke three school records in three days this past weekend at the NC State/GAC Invitational. finished the meet leading all competitors with 114 points as she placed in the Top-3 in each of the four individual and two of the three relay events she competed in. Her contributions led Duke to a third-place finish among five teams that reside in the CSCAA polls. Every individual Marsh swim from the weekend was an NCAA "B" cut time.
On Thursday, Marsh topped her own 50 freestyle record clocking in a 21.90 time. Friday brought another broken school record, touching the wall in 51.05 in the 100 butterfly and winning the finals that night. Marsh broke her third record of the weekend on Saturday, swimming a 48.11 in the 100 freestyle. In the 100 backstroke, Marsh swam a 52.65, placing third in the final.
In addition to individual performances, the freestyle sprints, butterfly and backstroke specialist competed in three relays. In the 400 freestyle on Saturday, swimming a 47.08 second leg, she helped the team clock in at 3:15.20, the second-best time in Duke history. Her quad's time of 1:36.66 in the 200 medley relay on Friday earned second place in the meet and second in the Blue Devil charts. On the opening day, the 400 medley relay team swam a 3:34.52, placing second in the Duke history books. Both the 400 freestyle relay and the 200 medley realy swims were NCAA "B" standard times.
The Duke swimming and diving program is back in action Jan. 11, as the squad travels to the Levine Aquatic Center in Charlotte, N.C. to take on Queens University of Charlotte. The Royals have won the last five Division II National Championships in both men's and women's. This season, the women rank first and the men fourth in the CSCAA Division II polls.
