Sammi Steele recorded four saves in 67 minutes of action before exiting late in favor of an extra field player. The result gave Princeton a 6-5 lead in the all-time series between the schools.
Princeton, ranked 12th in this week's edition of the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll, moved to 5-4 with a 1-0 shutout at No. 11 Delaware Tuesday. The Tigers have already faced two ACC opponents entering Sunday's matchup in Durham. Princeton fell to No. 1 North Carolina, 4-3, in the season opener before rebounding with a 2-1 double overtime victory against Wake Forest.
Junior forward Clara Roth's 17 points pace the Tigers heading into a Friday meeting with Yale.
