DURHAM, N.C. – With the 2019 season opener a little over two weeks away, head coach Chris Pollard and the Duke baseball program are excited to announce infielder Graham Pauley as part of the Blue Devils' most recent recruiting class.
“Graham Pauley is a tremendous hitter,” said Pollard. “He was the 7A Player of the Year as a junior in Georgia, and has a really advanced hit tool. He can play any spot in the infield, but we really like the left-handed bat. We feel like he has the chance to come in and make an immediate impact with his bat.”
A four-year letterwinner at Milton High School, Pauley comes to Durham from Milton, Ga. As a junior, Pauley batted .446, slugged .584 and sported a .491 on-base percentage on his way to being named the 7A Player of the Year. Pauley was named the Most Valuable Player of his team at MHS following his junior season, and was also selected to the Atlanta Braves All-Star team his junior campaign. As a sophomore, he garnered second team All-Region honors, and received the Eagle Talon Award both his freshman and sophomore seasons.
Pauley is regarded as a top 500 prospect by Perfect Game, and earned Underclass All-American High Honorable Mention Honors in 2018. In addition, the organization also lists Pauley as the No. 37 overall prospect and the second-best third baseman in the state of Georgia.
A two-sport athlete, Pauley also competed in football, lettering for two years and serving as the captain of the junior varsity squad his sophomore season as a quarterback and middle linebacker. A scholar-athlete, he is regarded as an AP Scholar and is a member of the National Honor Society. Pauley is also a member of the Young Men's Service League.
Pauley is part of Duke's 12-member 2019 recruiting class along with LHP Michael Foltz (Myrtle Beach, N.C.), 1B/OF Britt Fuller (Charlotte, N.C.), RHP Marcus Johnson (Fontana, Calif.), INF/RHP Thomas Keehn (Highland, Md.), LHP Clark Klitenic (Bethesda, Md.), C Chad Knight (Westport, Conn.), INF Grant Norris (Somerset, Pa.), RHP Billy Seidl (Wellesley, Mass.), OF Sam Siani (Glendale, Pa.), RHP Colten Smith (Colmar, Pa.) and RHP Henry Williams (Darien, Conn.).
