Duke Looking to Extend Series Dominance Against Miami…
When they enter Thursday's contest, the Blue Devils will be looking to pick up their sixth-straight win against the Miami Hurricanes. Duke has outscored UM 13-2 in that stretch, with the highlight coming last season in Durham, when it held the Hurricanes without a shot while picking up a 3-0 win on the Blue Devils' 2017 Senior Day. The only Miami win in the series came Oct. 7, 2010 in Coral Gables, when the Hurricanes picked up a 2-0 victory.
Blue Devils Make Statement Win at Syracuse to Open ACC Play…
It was domination from start to finish for the Blue Devils on Sunday, as they opened their 2018 ACC slate with a 4-0 win at Syracuse. Duke's victory was the largest in ACC play since defeating the Orange, 4-0, on Oct. 2, 2016 in Durham. It was also the first time Duke has had four different goal scorers in a game since its 4-0 win against Baylor last season to advance to the NCAA College Cup. The four goals also stand as the largest single-game output for a team through the first weekend of conference action.
Duke set numerous season highs in the win as well, with 13 points, four scores, five assists, 24 shots, 12 shots on goal and 12 corner kicks.

McCoy Climbing the DWS Record Book…
Senior Kayla McCoy cracked the top 10 in all-time goals earlier this season. With her goal Sunday, she continued her climb up that chart. She currently has 29 goals over her career, tying former Blue Devil standouts Imani Dorsey (2014-17) and Kim DeCesare (2010-13) for sixth. She is five goals away from cracking the top five, as KayAnne Gummersall (2006-09) sits fifth with 34. Kelly Walbert (1992-95) owns the program record with 47-career scores.
McCoy's two game-winning goals this season has her career total now up to 12, putting her along at fourth on the DWS all-time list. She's two shy of Elizabeth Redmond (2006-09) for third place and eight behind the record holder Kelly Walbert (1992-95), who has 20.
Stevens Among the DWS Assists Elite...
With her team-high five dimes so far, Ella Stevens has cracked the top five on Duke's all-time assists list. She now has 22 for her career, which ties her for fifth in DWS history with Imani Dorsey (2014-17), Carolyn Ford (2002-05) and Laura Weinberg (2010-13). She now sits one away from tying Kelly Walbert (1992-95) for fourth place and seven from tying Mollie Pathman (2010-13) for third. Andi Melde (1994-97) holds the all-time record at Duke with 42.
Another Day, Another W…
Duke didn't slow down when it entered ACC play, as it has now reeled off six-straight wins after defeating Syracuse on Sunday. The stretch ties for the sixth longest in DWS history and is the longest since their program-record 19-game winning streak last season, which spanned from Aug. 20 – Nov. 3, 2017. Five of the Blue Devils' wins came during their five-game home stand, the longest such stretch of their season.
It was a slow start to the year for Duke, only tallying three goals, giving up three and going 1-1-1 in the first three matches. That tide has turned in the last six contests, as the Blue Devils have outscored foes 15-2. Since allowing two goals to Illinois, the Blue Devils have elevated their defense to one of the nation's best. Duke's six shutouts are tied for second in the ACC and its .667 shutout percentage is third in the conference and 15th nationally. It's save percentage stands at .879, which is good for third in the league and 24th in the NCAA.
Brooke Heinsohn has been key behind that defensive surge, standing tied for second in the ACC and 11th in the nation with five solo shutouts. Heinsohn and freshman Holly Stam combined for the Blue Devils' 4-0 blanking of Syracuse on Sept. 16. The Duke starting keeper is also fifth in the league and 22nd nationally with a 0.44 GAA.
McGuire Keeps Hot Stretch Going at Syracuse…
It was a career performance for freshman Marykate McGuire when Duke opened up the ACC slate with a 4-0 win at Syracuse. The Portsmouth, R.I., native assisted on the game's first goal and then reeled off one of her own to make a 2-0 in the first half, a beautiful strike from the top right of the 18'. Sunday was McGuire's first-career three-point performance and she has now tallied at least one point in five of the last six games (three goals, three assists).
