DURHAM, N.C. – In the second match of a 2018 home-and-home series, ACC rivals Duke and North Carolina take the court at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 17 in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
ACC Network Extra is set to broadcast Saturday's match available via WatchESPN.com or the ESPN app.
Duke (14-10, 8-7 ACC) had won six of its past seven matches before suffering consecutive setbacks at NC State and No. 10 Pitt, while North Carolina has won two of its past three contests. The two teams met two weeks prior in Chapel Hill, N.C., with the Blue Devils taking the straight set victory over the Tar Heels Friday, November 2.
Middle blocker Leah Meyer has put together a strong season for the Blue Devils with 225 kills and 135.0 blocks. Meyer enters the weekend ranked third in the ACC in blocks per set (1.50) and sixth in hitting percentage (.355).
Duke has a pair of underclassmen outside hitters in sophomore Payton Schwantz and freshman Ade Owokoniran leading the offense. Schwantz owns a team-high 244 kills while Owokoniran has contributed 237.
Graduate student Andie Shelton is among an elite group of 12 NCAA Division I players with four or more triple-doubles on the year. Shelton leads the Blue Devils in both assists and service aces, contributing 172 kills and 64 blocks as well.
North Carolina (7-18, 3-13 ACC) is led by Destiny Cox with 263 kills on the year, while Katharine Esterley (1.16) and Ava Bell (0.99) both rank among the ACC's top 15 blockers.
Duke wraps up the 2018 regular season at home next week, welcoming Notre Dame and Miami to Cameron Wednesday, November 21 and Friday, November, 23.
