Duke Heads To Notre Dame For First ACC Road Contest…
The Blue Devils will look to move to 2-0 in conference play Thursday night when they head to Notre Dame for their first road ACC match of the season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET from Alumni Stadium, with the broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
Notre Dame holds a 8-5-1 advantage in the series, but Duke has claimed two of the last three meetings. Thursday night will be the first match between the two since Notre Dame won 1-0 in Durham on Oct. 25, 2015.
On The Doorstep Of Program History…
A win Thursday night in South Bend would be more than just another notch in the win column for the Blue Devils. That would make nine-straight victories for Duke, marking the longest winning streak in school history. The original record was set in 2000 under then head coach Bill Hempen.
Top Five, Top Five, Top Five…
Duke's hot streak has caught the nation's attention, as it went soaring up the polls last week. After jumping seven spots to No. 4 in last week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25, the Blue Devils held strong at fourth in the rankings.
The Blue Devils moved up one spot to No. 5 in the latest Soccer America poll, making them ranked in the top five in all three major polls. Duke stayed at third in the TopDrawerSoccer.com poll.
Dorsey Stays In The Spotlight…
Senior Imani Dorsey pulled in yet another accolade this week, as for the third-straight week she earned a spot on TopDrawerSoccer.com's Team of the Week. This came after recording a season-high three points (one goal, one assist) in Duke's 3-0 victory against Virginia Tech on Sunday. She has now earned a point in eight of their nine matches this year and leads the squad with seven goals and 16 total points.
Burns Continues PK Excellence…
Junior Chelsea Burns continued her streak of PK excellence on Sunday, putting one into the back of the net just before the half to secure her third game-winning goal of the season. The Jacksonville, Fla., native is now 4-for-4 this season on penalty kicks.
