Quinn, Canada to Head to Europe in April

DURHAM, N.C. – The Canada Women's National Team announced Wednesday the squad will head to Europe to play Sweden and Germany in April. Blue Devil senior Rebecca Quinn is one of 23 players selected to travel to Sweden and Germany for the games April 6 and 9, respectively.
Canada will face Sweden April 6 in Trelleborg, Sweden and then will head to Erfurt, Germany for a match against Germany April 9. The two match series pits Canada's Olympic Bronze Medalists against the Rio 2016 Olympic Games silver and gold medalists.
Canada Soccer's Women's National Team have recent history playing Germany, including two games at last summer's Olympic Games, but it hasn't played Sweden since a two-match series in 2014 in Los Angeles that resulted in a 1-0 win for Canada, followed by a 1-1 draw days later.
Quinn, a native of Toronto, Canada, is one of 16 players called in to represent Canada that helped their country to the bronze medal at the Rio Olympics. The Duke standout recently traveled to Portugal in March for the Algarve Cup where she saw her first action since September of 2016. Quinn redshirted the 2016 season with the Blue Devils and will be back in 2017 as a redshirt senior.
Both Germany and Sweden recently rose in the FIFA rankings, with Germany overcoming the USA to take the coveted number one spot in women's football. Sweden is tied for sixth with Japan, while Canada sits in the fifth-place position.
