Durham, N.C. – Duke's freshman Eoin Gronningsater garnered ACC Male Fencer of the Week recognition, and junior Jennifer Ling received Co-Female Fencer of the Week following their performances at the Eric Sollee Invitational.
Both Gronningsater and Ling helped guide the Blue Devils to an undefeated record over the weekend for both the men and women for the first time in program history.
Gronningsater earned his second ACC Fencer of the Week award on the season after posting a 12-0 ledger at the Eric Sollee Invitational. The freshman from Brooklyn, N.Y., led the Blue Devil foil squad to a perfect 6-0 record on the weekend.
A junior from Cranbury, N.Y., Ling led the Duke saber squad to a 6-0 record over the weekend after posting a 17-1 mark individually in the competition.
Gronningsater, Ling and the rest of the squad will host the program's annual Duke Meet this weekend. The meet will be held in Card Gymnasium starting at 8 a.m. both mornings. The men will compete Saturday before the women hit the strips Sunday and admission is free to the public.
