DURHAM, N.C. - In the third of a four-part video series previewing the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships March 11-12, senior Anima Banks sat down with Blue Devil Network to discuss the women's 800 and distance medley relay.
Banks is seeded fourth in the women's 800, setting the school record earlier this season with a time of 2:03.41. The Mamaroneck, N.Y., native also claimed the silver medal in the event at the 2016 ACC Indoor Championships. In the distance medley relay, Banks will join Madeline Kopp, Maddy Price and Kim Hallowes, with Olivia Anderson serving as the alternate. The squad enters the competition with a converted time of 11:04.27, the second-best time in Duke history and the 10th-fastest time in the field.
This year will mark a return year for Banks, qualifying as part of the women's DMR team in 2013 and 2014. It will be the first time Banks will compete on the indoor national stage individually.
The women's semifinals of the 800 are scheduled to begin at 8:35 p.m. (EST) Friday, with the final slated for 5:40 p.m. Saturday. The women's distance medley relay will end Friday's portion of the meet, beginning at 10 p.m.
