MILWAUKEE -- Former Blue Devil left-hander Chris Capuano has signed a minor league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers that includes an invitation to spring training.
Capuano was originally acquired by Milwaukee from Arizona in 2003. He pitched for Milwaukee from 2004-07 before missing two seasons with an elbow injury. He won 18 games for the Brewers in 2005 and made the National League all-star team.
Capuano returned to Milwaukee in 2010 before becoming a free agent and signing with the New York Mets. He went on to pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. In 300 Major League games, including 225 starts, he is 76-91 with a 4.39 ERA.
Capuano started 33 games on the mound for the Blue Devils from 1997-99 and currently ranks ninth on in school history with 251 career strikeouts. An eighth-round pick by the Diamondbacks in 1999, Capuano made his major league debut with Arizona in May of 2003.
