DURHAM, N.C. – Redshirt junior Teddi Maslowski has secured a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the heptathlon competition, as announced by the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee Thursday.
One of 24 qualifiers, Maslowski produced the best performance of her career at the Mt. Sac Relays earlier this spring. Competing against a loaded field, Maslowski used outdoor personal bests in six of the seven events to finish eighth and rack up 5,706 points, the best heptathlon score in school history and the 17th-best mark in NCAA Division I this season.
In addition to claiming the school heptathlon record, the Burgettstown, Pa., native also set Duke records in both the long jump and 100m hurdles during the competition. Her long jump mark of 20-8.50 (6.31m) currently ranks tied for 18th nationally, while her time of 13.38 in the hurdles is tied for 43rd.
Before making the trip to Eugene, Maslowski will compete at the NCAA East Preliminary Round meet next week in hopes of earning a spot in the 100m hurdles and long jump events, as well. The regional meet will be hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., May 28-30, while the NCAA Outdoor Championships are scheduled for June 10-13.
