NEW YORK CITY – The Duke track and field teams were represented Saturday night in two events at the 108th annual Millrose Games in New York City. At the nation's oldest and most prestigious indoor track and field meet, the Blue Devils were able to secure runner-up honors in the men's 4x800 competition.
In the relay race, the Blue Devils ran a combined time of 7:33.68 to finish just 0.20 seconds behind first-place Army. Senior Henry Farley ran the first 800m leg in a time of 1:52.61 to give Duke the initial lead, followed by freshman Kyle Francis turning in a 1:54.36 split. Still holding the lead halfway through the race, freshman Jordan Burton turned in a 1:53.75 third leg to narrowly trail Army heading into the anchor leg. Freshman Sean Kelly registered a 1:52.98 split to cap the race for the Blue Devils, securing the second-place finish for Duke.
Also competing for the Blue Devils, junior Megan Clark failed to clear her opening height of 13-5.50 (4.10) in the women's pole vault. The ACC Women's Field Performer of the Week the past two weeks, Clark had finished either first or second at each of the first four meets this season.
The Blue Devils will return to competition next weekend at the Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg, Va., Feb. 20-21.
