DURHAM, N.C.—Duke University redshirt sophomore Conner Hartmann has been selected as the Ronald McDonald House Student-Athlete of the Week following his strong showing at the Pitt Duals over the weekend. Hartmann went 3-1 overall, including a win over a top-15 opponent.
Hartmann, after opening the Pitt Duals with a tough overtime decision to Eastern Michigan, the Port Orchard, Wash. native won his next three bouts, including a 9-2 decision over No. 13 Nick Bonnaccorsi of Pittsburgh for his first ACC win of the year.
The 197-pounder registered his first pin of the campaign to help Duke to a commanding 28-9 win over Clarion. Hartmann ended the day with a 6-3 decision over Buffalo's Angelo Malvestuto as the Blue Devils rallied from a 10-6 decision to post the 19-13 win against the Bulls.
Overall, Hartmann is 11-4 and ranked 18th in the latest InterMat rankings. He is 6-2 in duals this season with a 1-0 mark against conference foes heading into the match with Virginia Friday night.
The Blue Devils (3-5) welcome No. 12 Virginia for the ACC home opener Friday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
