DURHAM -- The first installment of the Duke Football Summer Spotlight series features redshirt junior quarterback Anthony Boone, who will take over the reigns of the Duke offense in 2013.
Boone, a native of Monroe, N.C., has earned plenty of game experience in his previous two seasons while serving as a backup to three-year starter Sean Renfree. Boone has appeared in 22 games in his career, completing 79-of-148 passes for 829 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions while flashing his running ability with six rushing touchdowns.
Boone led Duke to two wins as a redshirt sophomore in 2012, entering the Wake Forest game with the score tied in the fourth quarter and rushing for the go-ahead touchdown in a 34-27 victory. He drew a start in place of the injured Renfree in Duke's next game against Virginia and threw for 212 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-17 win.
The Duke Football Summer Spotlight will run every Wednesday during the summer, leading up to the start of football camp in August.
