Four Blue Devils Named to All-ACC Academic Team

DURHAM, N.C.-Four members of the Duke University men's soccer team were selected to the All-ACC Men's Soccer Academic Team as announced Friday by Commissioner John Swofford. James Belshaw, Sean Davis, Nat Eggleston and Zach Mathers represented the Blue Devils on the squad.

Duke, along with Clemson, North Carolina and Virginia, led the ACC with four honorees as each of the nine programs was represented. Belshaw and Davis were two of six student-athletes to earn both All-ACC first or second team honors as well as a spot on the academic squad, while Mathers was one of the six All-Freshman team choices to capture the classroom honor.

Belshaw, a two-time All-ACC first team selection, earned the distinction for the fourth consecutive season, while Eggleston picked up his second award. Davis and Mathers both garnered their first career awards after starting all 18 games for Duke.

The quartet of Blue Devils started a combined 68 of 72 games in 2012 with each amassing at least 1,000 minutes on the field. Davis distributed three assists in his sophomore campaign, while Eggleston had a goal and an assist in 18 outings. Mathers and Belshaw anchored the backline to nine shutouts with Mathers chipping in two goals and four assists for eight points.
