Moore Qualifies for USATF Outdoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - Amongst the excitement of the NCAA Championships, one Duke athlete was still trying to qualify for the USATF Outdoor Championships.

Senior Devotia Moore ran a seasonal best 2:06.43 at the NCAA First Round and surpassed the USATF "B" standard of 2:06.5, but failed to advance to the NCAA Championships. Athletes who hit the "B" standard have qualified for the championships but their entry is at the discretion of the Sport Committee Chair. However, athletes who meet or surpass the "A" standard are guaranteed entry into the meet.

While many of her teammates were running at the NCAA Championships, Moore competed at the fourth meet of the New Balance Boston Twilight series. Moore, running in the seeded section of the women's 800, ran to a blazing 2:03.45, cruising past the "A" standard of 2:05 and smashing the Duke record set by teammate Cydney Ross just two days earlier.
