Upcoming Event: Track & Field versus NCAA East Regionals on May 27, 2026

DURHAM, N.C. - The 24th ranked women's track team and their male counterparts will travel this weekend to Virginia Tech for the Virginia Tech Challenge and a final tune up before the ACC championships. Taking a week off to recover after a successful trip to New York for the Armory Collegiate Invitational, the Devils will look to familiarize themselves with the facility and improve their seeding for the upcoming championships.
The meet kicks off Friday with the Men's 1 mile. Seniors Josh Lund and Ryan McDermott will look to break four minutes, a time that will rank them both in the top 20 runners in the nation. Following the mile, freshman Hannah Goranson will highlight the women's 60 meter hurdles while LaCresha Styles, Marcus Wright and Matt Pridemore will look to better their times in the 60 meter dash. School record holder Michelle Anumba will compete in the weight throw as well. Curtis Beach, the sophomore world record holder in the 1,000 meters in the heptathlon, will use the meet to refine his mechanics in competition setting in the long jump, pole vault and 60 meter hurdles on Friday, and shot put on Saturday.
Additionally on Saturday, freshmen high jumpers Tanner Anderson and Michael Krone will continue their spectacular rookie season while ACC champion Amy Fryt will try to clear 13'2" for the third time this eason. Also in the field, Michael Barbas and Mike Schallmo, ranked three and four in the conference, will throw shot.
Big performances are expected Saturday in the 800 meters on both the men's and women's side. Seniors Kate Van Buskirk and Devotia Moore and junior Cydney Ross will race for the women while Sean-Pat Oswald will run his first fresh open 800 of the year for the men.
