Duke, competing in both The Citadel Open and the Hokie Open, registered seven top four finishes overall and two titles among that list. Redshirt freshmen Brandon Gambucci took home runner-up honors in the 133-pound division at the Hokie Open, while Immanuel Kerr-Brown earned top honors at 149 pounds at the Hokie Open. Also victorious was rookie Tanner Hough at 141 pounds at The Citadel Open.
Rounding out Duke's runner-up finishers were Marcus Cain and Brendan Walsh at 149 pounds and heavyweight, respectively. Randy Roden was third from 174 pounds and Trey Adamson and Michael Chapman both finished fourth in their respective weight classes.
The Blue Devils will send a total of 23 wrestlers to the Wolfpack Open this weekend, with two of those competing unattached. It will be the first action of the season for five of Duke's wrestlers, while the remaining 18 will look to build on their performances from a week ago.
Both Hough and Kerr-Brown take unblemished records into the event after going 5-0 from the 141 and 149-pound classes, respectively, at The Citadel Open. Cain also aims to keep his momentum from last week after going 4-1 in his first collegiate action. Gambucci hopes to bring home his first collegiate title at 133 pounds after posting a 3-1 record at the Hokie Open, while Terrezza anchors Duke's line up at 125 pounds.
Sophomore Ryan Harding will compete at 157 pounds and looks to bounce back after a tough opening weekend and Dan Adamo will line up at 165 pounds with three matches under his belt from last weekend.
Leading the way at 174 pounds will be Roden with a 5-1 record, Adamson and Ethan Ruby. Adamson went 4-2 at The Citadel Open, finishing fourth after a medical forfeit against Roden in the third-place match. Ruby was 2-2 for the Blue Devils in the first tournament of the season.
Freshman Dylan Ryan will be the lone Blue Devil at 184 pounds, while the trio of Conner Hartmann, Robert Mello and Brian Self all will vie for the top spot at 197 pounds. Hartmann posted a 4-1 mark at The Citadel Open to take second place, while Self finished 3-2 on the day.
Rookies Michael Chapman and Brendan Walsh both had strong opening weekends at heavyweight. Chapman posted a 5-2 mark en route to fourth place at The Citadel and Walsh captured second place with a 3-1 mark.
Duke travels to the Keystone Open for its next tournament, November 20 before taking a short break for final exams.
