EUGENE, Ore. - Duke track & field athletes Cory Nanni and Kate Van Buskirk both placed 22nd in their respective 1,500m semifinals Thursday, June 10 at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Nanni, an All-ACC performer in the mile run this past indoor season, ran 3:53.04 for over 1,500 meters in his first NCAA Championship appearance. The junior from Bloomington, Ind., qualified for the championships after placing seventh at the Eastern Preliminary Round in a time of 3:43.52.
After earning All-ACC honors in the 1,500m earlier this season, Van Buskirk advanced to the NCAA Championship field by finishing 10th at the Eastern Preliminary Round in a personal-best 4:19.23. The Brampton, Ontario native posted a time of 4:28.65 in the semifinals on Thursday.
Freshman Juliet Bottorff will close out the NCAA Championships for Duke as the rookie is set for the 5,000m Friday, June 11 at 6:40 p.m. (PST).
Coverage of the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be televised by CBS College Sports on Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. In addition, the NCAA will provide a live video-stream through www.NCAA.com. Live results can be accessed through www.flashresults.com as well.
