CARY, N.C. - Sean Gilmartin scattered three runs over eight innings to lead No. 6 Florida State to a 16-3 win in the series opener versus Duke at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
Gilmartin (6-2) struck out six batters and worked around eight Duke hits to give the Seminoles (27-8, 11-5) the series lead. He got a five-run lead before he even took the mound as Tyler Holt mashed one of his two home runs in the first inning to spark a five-run rally in the opening frame.
Will Currier launched his eighth home run of the season for Duke (20-15, 5-11 ACC) on the way to a career-high three hits.
