Wrestling Prepares for ACC Championships

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke wrestling will compete tomorrow at the 2010 ACC Wrestling Championships at the Reynolds Coliseum on the campus of N.C. State University. First round action begins at 11 a.m.
The Blue Devils (3-8, 0-5 ACC) will have nine wrestlers partaking in this year's conference tournament, including senior Konrad Dudziak, who will be defending his 2009 ACC title. The native of Bayonne, N.J., is 12-0 on the year and is coming off a 2-1 win over 12th-ranked Dustin Porter of Gardner-Webb.
Joining Dudziak will be seniors John Barone (197), Voris Tejada (174) and Ben Wales (165). Barone, a product of Shirley, N.Y., was 15-7 with a 2-3 mark in ACC bouts. Hailing from Marlton, N.J., Tejada tallied an 18-9 overall record with a 4-1 ledger in ACC competition. Wales, a senior from Ostego, Mich., missed part of the season due to injury, but finished with a 9-8 record.
Diego Bencomo led the team in wins with a 21-9 record. The redshirt-freshman from Phoenix, Ariz. will be wrestling at 184 pounds. Bencomo was 2-2 against the ACC this year.
Peter Terrezza will be featured at 125. The sophomore was 14-9 on the season and holds a 3-2 mark against the ACC. Junior Mike Bell will be at 141 pounds. Bell was 12-15 this season.
Freshman Brent Jorge will be wrestling at 149 and freshman Christopher Piccolella will be competing at 157. Jorge is returning from injury, but had a solid rookie campaign, going 17-7 this season. Piccolella wrestled at several different weight classes this season and had a 2-3 record in the ACC.
Duke will not have an entry at 133 pounds.
