"The guys' short game are tremendously sharp right now," head coach Jamie Green said. "On a golf course like this, where the wind can do unexpected things to your ball flight, you have to be able to save some shots and they are doing a great job around these greens. I am really pleased with that and we look forward to continuing it tomorrow."
Suri bounced back from a tough first round and was one of only 12 other competitors to go under-par today. The freshman from St. Augustine, Fla., capped off his round with birdies on the par-4 16th and the par-5 18th. Suri had just two bogies today and is tied for 28th with a score of 150.
"It doesn't surprise me or anybody on our team [how Suri played]," Green said. "He is that caliber of player. Today, I saw a calm, determined look. He really stayed in a great frame of mind for all 18-holes and it certainly helped our team out a lot."
Senior Adam Long nearly matched his even-par round from yesterday with a 73 (+1) today for a two-day total of 145. Long, a product of St. Louis, Mo., is tied for seventh after two rounds of play.
"It is an 18-hole round and Adam [Long] really played some strong golf to start the day. He really played some quality golf holes out there, especially on the front nine. It was a shot in our arm to get things going for us. A score of 73 keeps us right in the hunt"
Adam Sumrall worked back from three-over-par after six holes to finish at one-over-par. The freshman from South Bend, Ind., tallied four birdies in his final 10 holes. Sumrall sits in a tie for 12th with a 147 after two rounds.
Sophomore Spencer Anderson was even on the back nine to post a 75 (+3) in his second round. Anderson is tied for 23rd with a two-day score of 149. Junior Wes Roach also is tied for 23rd after his round of 75 (+3) today.
"Spencer got it up-and-down from 40-yards on the last hole," Green said. "He had a really tough pitch shot with a little room and he made a 15-footer for birdie."
North Florida leads the tournament with a team score of 582 (+6). The Ospreys also hold the individual lead as Joe Byun shot another 69 (-3) today for a two-day score of 138.
The Blue Devils will tee off at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow from the first hole. Live scoring will be available on golfstat.com
