- Duke reached the 20-win plateau for the 14th straight season and 45th time in school history, improving to 20-4 overall this season.
- The Blue Devils received one point towards the Carlyle Cup, which is a year-long competition between Duke and North Carolina. The updated ledger is now 8.5-5.5 in favor of UNC.
- Duke held North Carolina to 54 points, the 11th opponent this season the Blue Devils have limited to less than 60 points. It marks the fifth time in 10 conference games that Duke has allowed fewer than 60 points.
- Despite shooting just 22.5 percent (9-of-40) in the first half Duke led by one point, 28-27, at halftime. It is the 20th time in 24 games the Blue Devils have led at the half this season.
- The Blue Devils shot under 40 percent for just the second time this season and are now 2-2 in those contests. The other previous win came against Connecticut when Duke shot .284 (21-of-74) from the field.
- Duke did shoot 50 percent from the three-point line, marking the sixth time this season they have shot at least 50 percent from deep. On the defensive end, the Blue Devils held North Carolina to .263 (5-of-19) from long range, the 12th game they have held the opponent to under 30 percent.
- The trio of Jon Scheyer (24), Kyle Singler (19) and Nolan Smith (10) combined for 53 of Duke's 64 points (82.8 percent of the team's scoring). Entering the game the three players combined for a nation's best 53.6 points per game.
- Duke tallied 51 rebounds in the game, the second time this season they have pulled down over 50 boards. The other was 56 against Connecticut. Of the 51 rebounds, 23 came on the offensive end of the floor, the third time the Blue Devils have had at least 20 offensive rebounds in a game (25 vs. UConn and 20 vs. Wake Forest). Duke is now 18-2 when outrebounding its opponent.
- Seven different Duke players recorded at least five rebounds, the fourth time this season at least five different players tallied five rebounds in a game. The seven players is a season high for the Blue Devils.
- The Blue Devils committed just eight turnovers in the game, tied for the fewest this season. It is the fourth time they have recorded fewer than 10 turnovers.
Player Notes:
- Freshman Mason Plumlee tallied a season-high nine rebounds, passing his previous best of seven boards against Pennsylvania and Wake Forest.
- Six of Plumlee's nine rebounds came on the offensive end of the floor, almost half of his season total of 13 offensive boards entering the game.
- Plumlee also added seven points, two assists and one block in a season-high 27 minutes.
- Sophomore Miles Plumlee had six rebounds, marking the 15th game this year with five or more.
- Senior Jon Scheyer became the 27th player in school history with 100 career wins.
- Scheyer has started in 31 consecutive games and in 92 career contests.
- Scheyer notched 24 points to give him a team-high 12 games this season with 20 or more points. He has scored at least 20 points in seven of Duke's 10 ACC contests. He has scored 10 or more points in 23 of the 24 games and now has 99 career double-figure scoring games.
- Scheyer extended his streak to 17 consecutive games with a made three-point field goal and leads the team with 67 treys this season. His five treys in the game give him three games on the year with five or more.
- The five three-point field goals in the game give Scheyer 254 career made treys, making him the fifth player in school history to make at least 250 shots from deep.
- With five rebounds, Scheyer now has five games on the season with at least five boards.
- The two steals give Scheyer a steal in eight straight games with at least two in each of the last five outings.
- Junior Kyle Singler extended his consecutive starts streak to 52 games and has now started in 94 career contests.
- Singler reached double figures in scoring for the 21st time this season and 80th time in his career.
- With 19 points Singler passed Vince Taylor and Chris Carrawell for 28th on Duke's career scoring list and now has 1,460 in his career.
- The four three-point field goals mark the seventh time this season Singler has made three or more from deep in a game, including four of the past five games.
- Singler made his first four three-point attempts and is now 13-of-20 (.650) from long range in the last three games.
- The seven field goals gave Singler 501 career made field goals, making him the 34th player at Duke to make at least 500 shots.
- With nine rebounds, Singler has corralled eight or more in 11 games on the season.
- Singler has at least two steals in six of the last nine games.
- Junior Nolan Smith has scored at least 10 points in 21 games this season and 44 career games.
- Smith had a season-high six rebounds, one shy of his career high. It was his third game with five or more on the year.
- Senior Lance Thomas pulled down five rebounds for his seventh straight game with at least five rebounds and 11 games this season. He is averaging 7.3 rebounds per game over the last seven contests.
- With two steals Thomas has now posted two or more steals in four games on the year.
- Senior Brian Zoubek blocked two shots, the third time this season he has blocked two or more and 12th time in his career.
