DURHAM, N.C.—Duke University junior captain Christian Ibeagha recently was named to the United Soccer League All-Conference Team for the 2009 Premier Development League Season. Ibeagha was the lone representative from the Cary Clarets on the Eastern All-Conference squad.
Ibeagha has helped lead the Clarets to an 11-4-3 record. The junior defender most recently lifted the squad to the round of eight in the USL Premier Development League Playoffs with the game-winning goal in stoppage time against the Reading Rage. He ranks third on the team in minutes played at 1,039 and has two points on the year as he anchored the Clarets to eight shutouts.
Cary takes on the Des Moines Menace in the quarterfinal round on July 31 at 7:30 ET. The winner advances to the semifinals on Aug. 1 at 8:30 p.m., in Des Moines.
Duke opens its preseason camp the week of Aug. 13. The Blue Devils host VCU in their first exhibition game on Aug. 21 at 7 p.m.
