DURHAM, N.C. ? Duke University Women's Soccer Head Coach Robbie Church announced on Wednesday the addition of Libby Jandl of Mission Hills, Kan., to the 2009 Blue Devil roster.
“We're very excited to have Libby join our program,” said Church. “One of the things that drew us to her was her athleticism. That is something which is important in our program and that we want to continue to bring in. Her versatility is another thing. Libby can play a number of positions. She's most familiar playing in the back line either in central defender or the wide defender. With our graduation of six seniors, she's going to have an opportunity to come in and have an immediate impact on our program.”
Jandl will join Tara Campbell of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kim DeCesare of Massapequa Park, N.Y., Maddy Haller of South Salem, N.Y., Erin Koballa of Wrightsville Beach, N.C., Nicole Lipp of Lake Forest, Ill., and Callie Simpkins of Concord, N.C., who all signed in February to attend Duke University in the fall and play soccer.
“Libby is a very aggressive and a very hard working player,” commented Church. “She has a legacy here at Duke with her two sisters being graduates and Duke is the place she wanted to be. Libby made it perfectly clear that wanted to join our program. We're excited about her coming to Duke. We feel like she's going to have an opportunity to complete early in our preseason for some of the positions our graduating seniors are leaving.”
