Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski
On Artsiom Parakhouski's and Radford's performance:
We played really well. I thought Radford played well. They came out and hit every shot. They are really good. That kid [Artsiom Parakhouski] is good. He will be a first round pick, easy, in the NBA. He is two inches taller than Miles [Plumlee]. I don't know what they list him at, but he is close to seven feet. He has to be 265 or 270. He would play for anybody in our league. He is a very good basketball player. He reminded me of the Olympics. You don't know some people, and you say, oh, he is really good. That kid...I know he has played a year in the conference. He is better in person than he is on tape. He has a great feel for the game. I was watching him warm-ups. He has good touch. Obviously, if you run into him, he doesn't even know it. He is very good. [Joey] Lynch-Flohr is very good too. I know they have one kid who is out, when they get him, they are going to be very good. This is the first game [Amir] Johnson played. He is a veteran point guard. He didn't shoot well, I think our guys did a good job, but he will be solid.
On more of Duke's performance:
I am impressed with their team. I thought we beat a really good team today. We shared the ball so well. We had 35 buckets and 25 assists. For our veteran perimeter, each guy had seven assists [each] and only five turnovers [combined]. It was very good. That was one of the reasons we played so well. We connected on passes. We were connecting shots. There was rhythm, a really good rhythm. Andre [Dawkins] coming off and shooting the way he did...he got them all in rhythm. It says a lot for our veteran guys. They got him the ball. I love my team. They are very unselfish, a very unselfish basketball team.
On scoring over 100 points with 8 turnovers:
That is a good observation. When you get 72 shots in the game, you get a lot of possessions. To only turn it over that amount of times is very good. It is the second game in a row that we have had less than double-digit turnovers and 20-something assists. That is very good.
On Andre Dawkins and Ryan Kelly's play, besides good shooting:
They are really playing good basketball. Their defensive stances... I think part of it is that they are surrounded by veterans. They have been able to pick things up quickly, because you play with and against these guys every day. This is really the first time in about five years in our program that we have had this many veterans that know how to play defense. They just know how to play. That makes it a lot easier for our younger guys, while out on the court, but also when they are in practice just to pick things up.
On taking many good shots:
We have taken pretty good shots all year. I think that is a big emphasis for us. We are not going to force as many turnovers as we have in the past. We don't want to take a bad shot and have that be a turnover. A bad shot is like a turnover.
On getting Miles Plumlee the ball:
We wanted to develop an inside presence. We missed a few against the zone...lobs should be dunks once we get the timing down. [Brian] Zoubek has played very well, he has played like a real veteran. Those two big guys have given us great numbers from that center position.
On being happy where the team is at:
Yeah...Mason [Plumlee] being healthy would make me a lot happier. The guys are playing hard and we are getting better. We are a good basketball team. We will be excited to play up in New York. Those two games will be a great test for us. After that, Wisconsin at Wisconsin...the next three games we should grow as a team.
Radford head coach Brad Greenberg
On team's performance:
"They're (Duke) good. And they shot great today. I think when they play like that, they're one of the best teams in the country. If they shoot like that, they have a chance to beat anybody. I wanted us to be able to get into offense a little bit better than we did. We made some shots, but they weren't great shots. They just put their typical pressure. They're overplaying the wings hard enough that you've got to work a little bit extra to catch the ball on the wing."
On playing zone to start the game:
"We wanted to try and protect those two big guys (Lynch-Flohr and Parakhouski) by playing zone, but obviously, it wasn't very effective. With any team, when that ball starts going in, that basket gets bigger and bigger for them. I think they saw a huge basket. They (Duke) know they've got to be able to make some shots to match up against the zone, and they're not afraid to shoot."
